Four years ago, Texas Petrochemicals pledged in an agreement with the city to cut emissions of a carcinogenic chemical by at least half and ensure that almost none enters nearby neighborhoods. Texas Petrochemicals, which manufactures 1,3-butadiene, a chemical used to make synthetic rubber, was responsible for the high levels of that compound detected by the state and the Houston Chronicle in the citys Manchester area. Recent readings show that the facility has met its goal.

Her best friend Simmons has come to Houston from California to try to set up the funeral for her friend. There's no money for the funeral. Family members are troubled and won't pay. Friends can't afford it. Sanvicente's attorney is paying for Simmons to stay at the Hilton temporarily and she's desperate to try to find a way to pay for the services.
